i saw a documentary a few years ago - pbs i think, frontline - where they talked about how the vietnam war eroded and basically decimated the morale, officer corps, and very backbone of the armed forces. this is a fundamental problem of unchecked power in the hands of squawking lunatic chickenhawks whose only accountability is to the war profiteers that hired them. we're doing it again now of course, under similarly manufactured rationale for the same greedy reasons.
